Trina Ganson | Experimental Printmaker & Book Binder

I am a Canadian artist and experimental printmaker, originally from British Columbia and now based in Ontario. My practice explores the quiet intersections of memory, material, and place.

Working intuitively and embracing experimentation, I layer traditional printmaking techniques—including monotype, collagraph, and drypoint—with hand-drawn marks and found textures. The resulting abstract landscapes are shaped by the fragmented nature of recollection: traces of places remembered, moments half-held, and impressions that shift and evolve over time.

Alongside printmaking, I create handbound blank books, thoughtfully made as spaces for others to create their own records. Each book offers an invitation to fill its pages with memories, writing, sketches, photographs, observations, or whatever moments the maker wishes to preserve. The book becomes personal through the act of using it.

Across both my printmaking and bookmaking, I am drawn to the tactile qualities of paper, texture, layering, and mark-making. My work invites a slower kind of looking and making—creating space for quiet contemplation, personal reflection, and the stories we choose to hold onto.
